Website Maintenance

There is a misconception that once you get a website designed it is completed. But your website should be an ONGOING PROCESS. The design, aesthetic and overall theme should/can remain the same but the content is important to keep updating.

Updating your content regularly keeps your clients informed while simultaneously building trust. Your website is often the main source of information and updates. If your website is stagnant, your client may not be getting the information they require to make purchases. Customers may choose a different business because of this. For instance, if you have a sale this month but it is not up on your website… customers don’t have easy access to that information, and really, does anyone want to go scrolling through a social media account to find the details??

And that is reason #1. Updating your website is KEY for allowing your customers to see any events, updates, or sales. It doesn’t have to be complicated, you can even use your Instagram image or Facebook caption but it MUST be present. Also, what is the point of paying for a domain name, website host, etc if you aren’t going to use it?

Reason #2, you pay for it so why not use it? Spending the time to update your social media is great and especially since you’ve been pushed for years to “get on social media” but that doesn’t mean giving up on your website… in fact, your social media should be the main gateway to get people to your website.

And that brings us to reason #3, websites BUILD TRUST!! This is a key theme for me when it comes to organizing and managing social media and websites for my clients. Most customers rely on website information to make their purchases. If you aren’t updating and providing RELEVANT topics on your website then they may choose another option… going back to #1 make it easy because someone else on the internet is making it easier and taking your customers. Just as a side-note, in this day in age people like to know what to expect when they come to your store (e.g. online menus for restaurants or restrictions) so ease their mind and just have that right on your website.

Additional reasons: Updating regularly boosts website SEO (easier to be searched), gives returning customers something new, serves as a content reminder, and can increase exposure.
