Tools for Establishing your Brand’s Tone
Establishing a tone in your marketing strategy is one of the first things that should be done, whether you are just starting your brand or looking to dive deeper into your marketing efforts. Your website, color palette, logo, and font are all part of establishing tone… which is paramount to building your brand.
Set the tone of your business with a website. A website is the most common way to get information about your business on one, easy to navigate platform. This platform is central to forming your identity and status in your niche. Guide your social media channels, newsletter, posters, business cards, etc. all to this central location using links, QR codes, and website mentions. The website should not only have all the information a consumer would want to know about you but it serves as a great social media content bank as well. Tone develops a sense of consistency and the consumer will know when they see your posts or go to your website that you are being authentic to the brand.
Colors and logos go hand in hand when establishing tone. The colors within your logo should be displayed across your channel…so really like those colors because you are stuck with them!! The color palette you choose should relay the feeling you want your consumer to have. Bright pinks can convey energy, youth, confidence while dark pink is seductive and sophisticated. Choose a palette of colors that pop and are true to the narrative of the brand. Orange is my pop color that conveys boldness and forward-thinking, combined with the blue-green tones that feel more collaborative and inviting. Therefore, the tone of Social Mirror Media is bold, inviting, and collaborative. This tone is even found in the fonts used on the website.
The font is a tricky decision because there are endless options. Just like colors, there are a million to choose from but try to use a font that sets your tone. Don’t be boring and choose generic, be bold. A font can convey playfulness, sophistication, or experience too. Create a tone and tell your story with the font that best represents the brand.
Rounding that all out, the tone you want your brand to convey will be displayed across your social channels and it is important to relay that to your social media marketer. We know how to use language, colors, fonts, etc. to develop your brand.
